Herding Cats, Shepherding Brand Awareness

by Rebecca Loveridge on September 10, 2010

You don’t even have to be a cat lover to be sucked into this week’s viral video.

One hundred untrained housecats were let loose in a British IKEA store (overnight; no customers; and they vacuumed after, don’t worry).

The curious creatures explored, climbed, and chased each other around the familiar furniture.

With all the right lighting, lenses, and shutter speeds, it’s actually quite beautiful towards the end.

And then it closes with that iconic Swedish logo—positioning IKEA as a pretty cool company that’s willing to try pointless, wacky experiments that get your attention and provide work-time distractions.

Ah, branding.

Wacky and random, and, you’re right, quite beautiful at the end. Love it.
